The opportunity

The UK’s construction industry represents a significant opportunity for reducing carbon emissions, while delivering strong industry and investor value.

Housing associations and local councils urgently need low-carbon, low-cost homes that have immediate potential for pilot schemes, small-unit developments, and off-grid housing solutions if the UK is to meet its own legally-binding carbon commitments. Private developers and self-builders – particularly in rural areas where planning frameworks favour natural, low-impact materials – represent another strong early adopter group. The eco-tourism sector is also primed for disruption, with operators demanding distinctive cabins, lodges, and glamping units that can be delivered quickly and sustainably. Beyond housing, agricultural estates require workshops, studios, and storage buildings that are simple to approve and fast to construct. Together, these segments create a robust and diverse early market for scalable growth.

THE ENVIRONMENTAL OPPORTUNITY

Biomaterials offer a low carbon, sustainable alternative in construction

3D printed earth combined with low carbon biomaterials offer a sustainable alternative in construction.

Strategic pressures faced by the industry, including the UK’s Net Zero 2050 target, impending regulatory changes such as the Future Buildings Standard, and forthcoming requirements for mandatory embodied carbon reporting in construction, offer a significant opportunity for the development of a low-carbon, sustainable 3D-printed earth product.

Our research will validate a material that is both circular (waste derived) and low-carbon (bio-additive enhanced), whilst addressing the core imperative of making UK materials and manufacturing net zero and resource efficient.

Our product is designed for deconstruction, and can safely be returned to the earth at end-of-life without damaging the environment.

THE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

The construction industry is ready for a step-change in new technology

The construction industry is ready for a step-change in new technology

The size of the UK Construction Market in 2025 stands at £240.26 billion and is estimated to grow to £303.81 billion by 2030*.

Housing demand in the UK exceeds current delivery by an estimated 340,000 units per year leaving a multi-billion-pound gap for low-carbon, rapid-build housing*.

Councils, developers, and housing associations are in need of innovative solutions.

Government net-zero targets must drive the adoption of natural, bio-based materials if legally binding carbon targets are to be met.

There are currently no other players in 3D-printed construction in the UK.
